I am already on the FOTSC database and receive regular newsletters. Why should I consider becoming a Member?
In line with the 2022 Incorporated Societies Act only official society Members can vote at an AGM or at any Special General Meeting (SGM) held by the Society
Membership of FOTSC gives you unique opportunities to be a part of the significant wetlands’ restoration that FOTSC has undertaken since 2018
Is there a joining fee or annual Membership subscription?
No. Membership is free. We rely on grants, donations and volunteer time to cover all our work & costs
What are some other ways that FOTSC Membership might interest me?
You will belong to a group of people who value the Taupō swamp, Plimmerton, its unique wetlands and its catchment, and who care about its special character
You can contribute to a community voice that influences local and regional councils’ decisions on issues concerning the wetlands and its wider environment
You can help in a practical way by taking part in events like:
-Restoration planting and maintenance
-Pest control
Having your say by taking part and having a vote at FOTSC Special General Meetings and Annual General Meetings
You can be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the wetlands and catchment, looking out for any pollution and reporting it to Greater Wellington (24-hour number 0800 496 734), as well as to the committee so we can follow up and make sure action has been taken. You would also be welcome to be a part of our educational initiatives with local schools and community education groups
You can be part of a group preparing material for the website, or articles of interest to members via our regular newsletter should that appeal…
You will still receive regular newsletters, annual reports and emails detailing our activities and concerns
